The Sea Life’s debut LP shows the band’s evolution to a tighter, more cohesive unit with songwriting that comes across as more urgent and immediate than previous releases. The lyrics battle with the theme of the easy ability to shut off unpleasant feelings and avoid anxiety, to settle for warm, safe boredom interrupted with only occasional fits of FOMO, and call it living.This angst inherent in never reaching some sort of self-actualization is one of the few things that still feels real, and The Sea Life use this to drive the fear, desire and creativity in their songs.
