The first real turning point in Elijah Kessler’s rap career happened when one of his songs caught the ear of Chaz Bear (Toro y Moi). A feature on Toro y Moi’s Soul Trash mixtape quickly followed, and the collaboration that would become LIGHTSPEED was up and running. With help from notable producers Nosaj Thing and Instupendo, the resulting sonic complexities are the perfect reflection of the content contained therein–a young man coming into his own, and an artist finding his voice.
